July 6th

The final lesson of our 'Shape' themed session focused on symbolism. We studied the painting 'Tree of Life' by Gustav Klimt and created our own artwork. Acrylic on canvas.

June 18th

Our artwork this week was inspired by Paul Klee's 'Castle and Sun'. After exploring the variety of shapes in his work, and learning about geometric vs. Organic shapes, the children had a chance to construct their own Castle using oil pastels and water colors.

June 9th

We continues our exploration of shapes and completed our Cubist inspired portraits.

June 4th

We opened our session with a fun warm up activity in which the students were asked to draw a face with their eyes closed! We then studied the works of Pablo Picasso and discussed his unique Cubist style. We began by breaking out drawing of a human face into simple shape and added geometric and organic shapes to create an interesting composition.

May 27th

The lesson focused on creating tint and shade using one color and changing it by adding black and white paint. We studied images of the ocean floor and examined the changes in light distribution. We then used photos of jellyfish as our guide. Acrylic and oil pastels on paper.
